poptarts: New Vid: The New Pornographers “Crash Years” really loving the new album a lot and this adorable video is pretty perfect for the Neko dominated tune. (via P4K.tv) My only complaint would be that there isn’t enough Neko in the video.  But agreed on loving this album

Amanda Palmer to Release Radiohead Covers EP
twentyfourbit: Now free from her record label of seven years, ex-Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer can legally follow her every musical whim, starting with a pleasantly bizarre side project, Evelyn Evelyn, a production of Cabaret, impromptu webcasts, YouTube song debut, and what else? Only an EP of cover songs by one of the most important rock bands of our time: Radiohead. In an email to AFP fans...

ABC Upfront and a Great Night of TV
***Editor’s Note:  This was written last night but I clicked save instead of Post, so just pretend you read it last night*** Umm…so I warned you yesterday that I wasn’t really going to get a chance to take a look at the shows ABC previewed at their upfront today, but for the most part it doesn’t look like they’re making too many changes.  I’ll try to get to it...

Fox Upfront - 2010-2011 Fall Schedule
For some reason, both Fox and NBC scheduled their upfronts today. (Alan Sepinwall explains:For those who care, this weird double-booking came about because NBC - which traditionally owned Monday of Upfront Week, while Fox went Thursdays - had the brainstorm a few years back to do an “infront” in April instead of an upfront, at which point Fox decided to claim the vacant Monday date....

Upfront Week and NBC's 2010-2011 Schedule
Guy, it’s my favorite week of the year!  And this year it’s especially amazing.  Not only are we getting the LOST finale (you’ll notice I’ve done a pretty good job of refraining from talking about LOST on this blog), but it’s also Upfront Week!  For some reason, the TV critics always seem really cynical of upfronts, but I love this week.  It’s like the NFL Draft...

Charlie Kaufman polishing 'Kung Fu Panda' sequel |... →
popculturebrain: Yes, that Charlie Kaufman. What the what?! In a 24 hour time period full of interesting news (all the Network decisions), I would say this has to be one of the more interesting bits of news.  Does the Kung Fu Panda believe in existentialism?

popculturebrain: Fake Trailer: ‘How I Met Your Mother’s ‘The Wedding Bride’ Starring Malin Ackerman, Jason Jones, and Chris Kattan as super douche “Jed Mosely.” Hilarious, awesome.  Can this save what has been a rather lackluster season for HIMYM?  Doubtful, but I’m hopeful, at least.

Miley Cyrus - Can’t Be Tamed I’m not sure if I love it because it’s awesome, or if I can’t look away because it’s a train wreck, but either way I’m going to keep watching.  Or as @flavorpill put it: “Now watch as miley cyrus discovers sex and Gaga (as well as awesome costuming) in REAL TIME”

azizisbored: MTV Movie Awards Promo: Who is Aziz AnsarI? Chances of me watching the MTV Movie Awards?  Slim.  However, chances without Aziz Ansari hosting would have been none…so that’s saying something.  Also, who was that guy after P Diddy (Puffy?  Diddy?  What are we supposed to call him these days?)

Some Thoughts on "Glee"
So during Glee’s first season (fall season? how are we referring to this?), I don’t think I hid my enthusiasm about the show and its long term prospects at all.  Loved the music, loved the enthusiasm, and felt that a lot of the writing was very smart (not to mention pithy).  Sure they got stuck in that odd baby rut for a while, but in general the show was smart and I was very much...

A Necessary Transition
This seems to happen every so often….I end up going a week or so without posting anything of actual merit.  We seem to be at one of those points right now.  This time I don’t think it’s really my fault, however.  I blame AT&T.  I detoxed from my internet addiction during Coachella because service was so spotty, and when I came back I was too overwhelmed to jump back into...

Alan Sepinwall and Dan Fienberg discuss... →
Alan Sepinwall of NJ.com/Star Ledger and Dan Fienberg of hitfix.com are undoubtedly two of my favorite television critics.  I read them daily, and have really started to enjoy their weekly podcasts (now that they’ve gotten the audio problems fixed).  In this particular podcast, during the Justified portion, they get into a great academic discussion about serialization in dramas.  Highly...

(via popculturebrain) For reals?  This isn’t an April Fool’s Day joke? As if Pixar/Disney Animation Studios didn’t have enough riches already, they’re adding Henry Freaking Sellick (not his official middle name) into the fold along with such giants as John Lasseter, Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton?  Wow.  I’m eagerly awaiting anything that could result from this...

makingofmovies: (via sandwichday) Pretty interesting, although some of these can be considered vaguely right at best.  Anyway, I’ll take any chance to think about Back to the Future that I can.  Side note:  Oh, you say Hot Tub Time Machine is one giant homage?  Too late already saw that.  And it was hilarious.  (Why didn’t you?)

My awesome week: an update
Vampy Weekend was a pretty good time last night, although the music elitist/snob in me thinks they’ve become too popular and I may never be able to go to another VW show after Coachella next month (seriously, couldn’t stand like half the audience….who would have thought Ezra would have become like a Teen Beat pin-up for a bunch of little alterna-tweeny boppers?).  Anyway, after...

Ok let's get this over and done with....
… 17 for 24, not my greatest night of Oscar predicting.  I missed all 3 short form films, but was happy to see that 2 out of 3 were the films I wanted to win.  Should have trusted my instinct on those.  I was, however, disappointed by the Screenplay victories, particularly Adapted.  Up in the Air was way too good of a film not to win a single award, and its screenplay was incredibly smart...

My Live Action Short Update
I can’t seem to connect to the Internet so a quick message from my phone after having seen all the lice action shorts yesterday. First off, I loved the mini marathon. Shorts are such an underrated form. I really liked all of them except for Miracle Fish which just didn’t so it for me. Ulimately I think The Door will win but I think The New Tenants should win. Dark and hilarious. It...

Thoughts on "Alice in Wonderland"
So I saw Alice in Wonderland last night.  2D only because I don’t want to support the practice of making 2D movies and then pushing them into 3D later to jump on the trend.  What can I say, I’m a 3D purist? (Stubborn is more like it.)  Anyway, I knew going in that there was no way that this film wasn’t going to disappoint me in some sense.  I’m a huge fan of the original...

2009 Oscar Predictions
OK time to man up and make my projections for Sunday’s Oscars.  So let’s take it from the top. Best Film Will Win, Should Win: The Hurt Locker Thoughts - Two weeks ago, I wouldn’t have second guessed this at all.  The Hurt Locker had been running away with all of the awards that matter.  (Yep, I just went there…the Globes don’t matter.  Get used to it.)  But all...
